Kevin Prendergast is a relatively new name to the trainers list. Based at Caradoc Estate, the former stables of John Edwards from where no less than nine Cheltenham festival winners were trained, Kevin has made a quick impact sending out two winners from only six runners within three weeks, the first being 66/1. Kevin was born and bred to the business and at only 29 has big ambitions for the future. Kevin has worked for the games more colourful characters and learnt a good bit on the way.!!

Kevin has a string of 10 horses at present and, like all other trainers, is always on the look out for new perspective owners. Kevin's yard is of course better known for national hunt horses. Nevertheless, Kevin is very keen to establish himself as both a flat and NH trainer and feels that his facilities are well suited for both the speedy two year olds and the jumpers. "Its all about how you train them" Kevin says.

If you are interested in getting to know Kevin and visiting his stables please feel free to contact him and arrange a visit to the yard. Why not let him treat you to a gastro-pub meal in the Lough Pool Pub (just 800yds from the yard at the foot of his gallops!!!!!!).

Caradoc Estate

Caradoc Estate is the ideal place to train racehorses. Located 4 miles from the picturesque market town of Ross-On-Wye and 8 miles from Hereford, the estate consists of over 800 acres of beautiful meadow and woodland along the banks of the River Wye.

Kevin's yard enjoys a location on the top of a hill, excellent for his horses' wellbeing (viruses don't tend to be a problem). Caradoc Estate's secluded position also benefits Kevin's racehorses thanks to it's peace and quite, and essential ingredient for success, "a relaxed happy horse is a winning horse" declares Kevin.

The yard is also blessed by its central location, ideally placed for many local racecourses, including; Cheltenham, Chepstow, Hereford, Worcester, Newbury, Newton Abbot, Ludlow, and Wolverhampton. Caradoc Estate is but a 2 miles from the M50 enjoying easy links, via the M4, to the London tracks such as Ascot, Lingfield, Sandown, and Kempton and, via the M5, to most of England's northern or southern tracks. This proximity also benefits our owners when they wish to spend a morning with us watching there horses train.

For our Irish owners coming to see their horses train, we offer an airport pick-up service from either Cardiff or Birmingham airports, both less than an hour drive from the yard. Those who wish to stay over have a fine selection of hotels to choose from dotted along the picturesque Wye Valley.
